Day 1: Christchurch - Lake Daniels

After pick up in Christchurch either from the Airport or your accommodation we set off for Lewis Pass - one of the three crossing points for the Southern Alps. After a picnic lunch surrounded by Native Forest and High Mountian tops we set off for the tranquility of Lake Daniels. We spend the night in a 'back-country' hut.

Day 2: Lake Daniels - Murchison/St Arnard

After an easy start to the morning, taking a bit of time to enjoy the Lakeside and surrounding forest we head back to the van. We'll get to Murchison as quick as we can as we have an afternoon of whitewater rafting to enjoy.

Day 3: Murchison/St Arnard - Lake Angelus

From Murchison we take a short drive to Nelson Lakes National park to begin the days walking to the idyllic setting of Lake Angelus. Take it easy in the evening enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery surrounding this Alpine Lake.

Day 4: Lake Angelus - Nelson

After a good mornings breakfast, we'll decend into the forest for our return walk to the Van. Most of the day is spent walking through lush New Zealand beech forest. After reaching the van we transfer to our accomodation in Nelson.

Day 5: Nelson

Today you're left to choose your own activities around Nelson. Our guides can help you make arrangements as necessary. You have many options in Nelson from leisurely sightseeing, shopping, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, sea kayaking, skydiving... the choices seem endless.

A popular option in Nelson is to visit Able Tasman National Park for an overnight sea-kayaking or hiking trip.

Day 6: Nelson

We allow a second day around Nelson as we know there is so much to do.

It also gives plenty of opportunity for us to round up the troups who have ventured off overnight.

Did you know?

The Dutch Explorer, Abel Tasman and his crew, were the first European's to visit New Zealand. In 1642, the Heemskerck and Zeehean sailed into Golden Bay near Nelson to be met by local Maori in their canoes. A brief, violent encounter resulted in the death of 4 of Tasmans crew. He left New Zealand waters without setting foot on land.

 
 
   
 

Day 7: Nelson - Kaikoura

We make our way to Kaikoura via Marlborough - one of the great wine making regions of New Zealand. We'll take the time to sample few drops of the local vintage and enjoy Lunch at one of the wineries before making our way down the picturesque Kaikoura coast.

Day 8: Kaikoura - Christchurch

Take your pick of options in Kaikoura before we travel down to Christchurch. Go Whale watching, swim with the dolphins or take a last walk in the forest with your guide.

In Christchurch we will drop you at your accommodation or the airport as required.
